Toyobo photopolymer etchings

I create handmade Toyobo photopolymer etchings from my own photography. Each work begins with a photograph and is translated by hand through a photopolymer plate, ink and the printing press. In this slow, tactile process, photography and printmaking come together.

Not every photograph becomes a Toyobo.

Only the images that continue to move me become part of this process.

Through plate, ink and the slow, tactile process of Toyobo,

I explore whether I can deepen the atmosphere, beauty and emotional layers already present in the original image.

materials and presentation

I consider the presentation of each Toyobo photopolymer print as carefully as the print itself. Each work is float-mounted, allowing the texture and deckled edges of the BFK Rives paper to remain visible. Museum glass and a handcrafted walnut frame complete the work while preserving its tactile character.
